For nine years, Owen has led Volvo Cars’ design strategy, operating at the intersection of design, brand, business and product planning.

As Head of Design Strategy, he works closely with creative and executive leadership to define the company’s overall design direction, while also shaping briefs for production and concept vehicles.  

His team combines customer insight, market intelligence and design methodologies to ensure Volvo’s design work reflects both long-term strategic goals and the realities of a changing industry. 

Before joining Volvo Cars, Owen worked as a design strategy consultant and automotive journalist, including a role as Editor of Car Design News.

With a background spanning consultancy, editorial and OEM leadership, he brings a unique perspective on how design can influence not just products, but the companies behind them.
